Urban vs. Suburban Ministry

Conversations about urban and suburban ministry often collapse into stereotypes or strategies. In this roundtable, seven pastors from Detroit, Harlem, Orlando, Boulder, and beyond wrestle with what “city” even means now, why growth often looks slower in urban cores, how brokenness hides in the suburbs, and why deep, costly relationships are central in both. Together they explore funding, discipleship, burnout, and friendship across contexts—and what it might look like to see each other as true co-laborers rather than separate worlds.

In this conversation, we are joined by Dan Milward (The Detroit Project), Dan Quakkelaar (Friend of Sinners Church, Milwaukee), Glenn Hoburg (Grace DC Network), Jeff White (Redeemer DT, NYC), Brad Edwards (The Table, Lafayette, CO), Eric Stites (Crosstown Life, Orlando, FL).
