In this short talk, given for the Harbor Network, pastor Zack Eswine does a deep dive into the theme of the “steadfast love of the Lord” beginning with the Psalms.

Zack begins this whistle-stop tour of the Lord’s love with these words:

“Psalm 90:14 is the place where we turn when we want to know how to make it over the long haul with a sense of peace and gladness of heart. There is a secret the psalmist knows to being able to go the distance. However, I’m hesitant to share it because first of all someone somewhere will feel like this is so basic that they will say, ‘Yes, yes… but please get on to the meat of the Word.’ And someone else will feel that it is too weak for our cultural moment. They’ll feel that what I’m about to say would be good for more civil times but with the nature of the battle we are in now, we cannot talk like this anymore. And still others will feel that because of the thing I’m about to say is so old, so ancient… that I might even sound like I’m unorthodox, that I’m not committed to the Scriptures.

But I need to say it and I need you to say it to me over and over again.

And it is this:

If you hope to go the long haul with a glad heart, you need to know you are loved.

There it is.

You need to know you are loved.

Psalm 90:14 says it: ‘Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.’”
